How Do I Score Points in One Day Fantasy Football?

Scoring Points on Daily Fantasy Football Games

Our various beginner’s guides to one day fantasy football and betting on fantasy football have hopefully given you the basics of how Daily Fantasy Football (DFF) works and how to bet on it. Here we take a look at one of the most important elements of the game – scoring points!

The different one day fantasy football sites all use their own slightly different scoring systems but in essence most of them work a little like scoring on traditional fantasy football games. Different players score points differently, depending on what position they play. Important contributions such as goals, assists, saves and clean sheets are the backbone of building a big score and this is the same across all the different fantasy football sites.

Read on as we take you through the different scoring systems used at the best DFF sites, whilst you can also see which we think is the best in our originally named “Which is the Best One Day Fantasy Football Scoring System” article.

Draft Kings Scoring Notes

  • MLS assists – MLS fixtures have both primary and secondary assists, both of which class as assists in MLS games, scoring the same points
  • Bookings – A player earning a second yellow scores a total of minus five, with all three cards (two yellows and a red) scoring separate negative points
  • Clean sheets – a player must play at least 60 minutes to earn this and goals conceded when they are not on the pitch will still count against them
  • Win – a keeper must play 60 minutes or more for the win points and the score when they are subbed will be used if a keeper is taken off
  • Penalty save – counts 5 points, 2 for a save and 3 for a penalty save
  • Penalty shootouts – only normal time and extra time count for fantasy football point scoring, not shootouts
